My own back-story is that he perhaps he was a pastor of some sort, but one night he was ambushed and attacked by a newly turned Shovel-Head, who without really knowing somehow turned Bishop. Honestly, I'd say the 9th circle is more interesting then the Anarchs. I feel like at the end of the day Bishop is a vampire they could of really fleshed out. Yes, your player handled the forced transition far better than Bishop, but you also weren't ignored like Bishop was. A childe with no Sire is a cruel and miserable punishment.
